Wind Tor

Wind Tor is very easy to get to. It's a short walk from the car and would anyone who just wishes to get a breath of fresh air and to take in the magnificent views that the tor supplies.
Park by the roadside off Dunstone Down at SX 707763. There's a track that leads south over the down to Wind Tor. This is an easy hundred yards or so. If you wish to extend your walk then return to the car park and take the north track that leads up to Hameldown. You can go as far as you like and return by much the same way. Much of the Hameldown track is part of the Two Moors Way.
This is a straightforward walk of about 5 miles (as described). You can make this walk as short or as long as you wish. There's some climbing involved if you ascend Hameldown, but otherwise the ground is easy walking and although you are exposed you are not likely to suffer very much if the weather turns bad. No military near.
