King Tor

King Tor has an imposing cairn on the northern side of Hameldown. There are good views over Chagford, Moretonhampstead in good weather. This walk allows you to explore the high ridge of Hameldown and there are plenty of old remains such as Grimspound and the Hameldown cairns to look at.
Park off the road near Natsworthy (SX 721802). Take the NW track up towards Hameldown and then head north to King Tor. It's an easy walk but King Tor isn't obvious. Then head SW towards Hameldown. You can walk as far as you like along this ridge.
An easy walk - ideal for a Sunday afternoon. No military - but be careful of adverse weather as these photos show. The tracks are pretty obvious on the whole.
