BroadunBroadun (or Broad Down) is one of those places on Dartmoor that starts off being quite easy to walk on and rapidly deteriorates (or improves) into more challenging conditions. Broadun is a stretch of roughish ground that lies between Broad Marsh, Wildbanks Hill and the East Dart. It is easily approached from Postbridge. This walk is a good introduction to the kind of difficult conditions that Dartmoor can provide.Park at the National Park bookshop at Postbridge (SX 646788) and take the Drift Lane path which starts at the western end of the car park. Proceed past Roundy Park, head in a NW direction, cross Braddon lake, walk up and over Broad Down and down to Sandy Hole Pass. At Broad Marsh walk left up the Broad marsh stream and then head SE up the slope. There's a good mile of rough and wet ground before you get to the low lying rocks of Broadun. Then walk back to Postbridge largely retracing the steps that you took earlier.A slightly testing 6 mile walk over some wet and awkward ground. Be careful of bad weather. Flat Tor is near to the Merrivale army firing range, but the walk as described does not enter the range.
